The Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine, had a lifecycle that began with gestation lasting about 10 days, after which the mother would give birth to relatively undeveloped young. The newborns would then migrate to the mother's pouch, where they continued to develop and stay for several weeks. Once they left the pouch, the young thylacines would remain dependent on their mother for several months until they could hunt independently. The average lifespan of a Tasmanian tiger in the wild was estimated to be around 5 to 7 years.
