How would life be without fossil fuel?

Without fossil fuels we would, by now, have harnessed the energy of the sun, the wind, the waves, falling water, heat from under the earth's crust, in other Words, all the renewable energy sources (solar, wind, water, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal, ocean thermal, biomass and biofuel) that we are now trying to move to.

As the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) is causing global warming, it actually was a sad day when they first discovered coal would burn!
