What is missing from the Mona Lisa's face?

According to CNN.com, a Frenchman claims that the eyebrows (and eyelashes) were actually painted on the portrait. A camera of his own design magnified the painting 24x and revealed a single lash.

The Frenchman, Pascal Cotte, has done a virtual recreation of the original painting based on what his infrared camera shows. He says the eyebrows and lashes may have been destroyed by a too vigorous cleaning.
