It depends on your specific model and what type of fuel system you have.Basically there are three types of fuel filters 1.Internal (used on carburated models located where the fuel line connects to the carburator)nothing really special about this one except it has a check valve in the filter that has to be oriented correctly facing toward the fuel line. 2.)Inline (usually on thr rear crossmember inline from the tank to engine fuel line.) on fuel injected models you must relieve the fuel line pressure before removal by pulling the fuel pump fuse then starting the vehicle and letting it run out of fuel.remove and replace making sure any o-rings are in good condition, filter fuel flow direction is correct, and tighten to the proper torque. re-install the fuse for the fuel pump and turn the ignition to the ON position to prime the system and check for leaks. 3.)in-tank this is usually self-cleaning unless completely submerged in water. It is normally located in the tank on the end of the pickup tube. I would suggest getting a shop manual like Chilton/Haynes for your specific year model to make sure there aren't any differences in procedures.Without knowing the year, engine size, etc this is general knowledge and should be used as such. P.S. I'm not an expert but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
