What kinds of things do you need to look after a horse?

Horses are what I call a 'high maintainence' animal. They are big, expensive, time-consuming but worth it if you really love them. Caring for a horse can be very complicated and there is so much to learn. Read everything you can get your hands on. Find a knowledgable person that can help you and be your mentor.

First try to figure out if you can afford a horse. They need real estate, shelter, food, vet care, foot care, expensive supplies to name a few. Their health can be very fagile for an animal this size. So make sure you have the finances before you get the horse. Then make sure you have the time. They need to be feed several times a day. They need exercise and grooming. You will need to find a vet and a horse shoer.

These are the basics of horse care. I hope I didn't discourage you from horse ownership. I just like people to know what is involved when they take on the responsibility of a horse.
