No only a small percentage of people encounter a bedbug problem in their bed, probably less than 1 in 40. But do not get confused with dust-mites as they are a different creature and they do live in almost every bed in the world. But you ask about "bedbugs" so can I explain the facts about them. People as such do not have bedbugs, beds do. Or to be more specific bedbugs live in or near people's beds and they will feed off whoever happens to be using that bed. In a hotel a bed may be infested and different people book into that hotel on different nights and use that bed and so get bitten while staying there, but not once they leave that hotel and go back to their home, unless they take bedbug eggs in their luggage with them, in which case they will have a bedbug problem in their home thereafter. But bedbugs may also decide to move from one person's bed to another person's bed for their meals in one home, as they are attracted towards the breath of somebody asleep. So in such a place as a dormitory or barrack room with several people sleeping in very close proximity, different peoplemay get bitten on different nights. Also in some cases some bedbugs in a home infested with them may move to a neighbouring home where they detect the breath of people asleep in that home and then set up their base near to a bed in there. Thus a person whose bed has never been infested, living in that home, will suddenly have acquired a bed bug problem through no fault of his own and in time other people's beds in that new home may also get infested and the user of that bed get bitten.
