Komodo dragons don't live in the rainforest. Their prefered habitat is scrub and woodland.
The above is not strictly correct. The natural habitat of the Komodo dragon ranges from among the rocks in open, bushy lowlands, to dense forest and tropical rainforest areas found on the volcanic slopes of the islands where they live. They require plenty of trees for the protection of their young.
Adult komodo dragons cannot climb trees, so they are restricted to the "forest floor" level. Juvenile komodo dragons climb trees for protection (especially from the adult dragons), so they are most commonly found in the understory level.
