What is the difference between the 2 generations of a moss plant?

Mosses have a life cycle with two very different stages. One generation looks plantlike.

The plantlike generation carries out sexual reproduction. it makes egg and sperm cells that join to produce a new moss plant. Then the other generation begins. This generation looks like a stalk that grows out of the leaf like part of the moss. This generation carries out asexual reproduction, in which a new plant is produced without the joining of a sperm and an egg cell. The stalk produces spores. A spore is a structure that contains cells that can grow into a new plant without joining with other cells.
