What is Dorie Millers job in the military?

Dorie Miller served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Mess Attendant First Class. Although he was primarily assigned to kitchen duties, he became famous for his heroic actions during the attack on Pearl Harbor, where he manned an anti-aircraft gun and shot down enemy planes, despite having no formal training for the role.
