Do gun control stop people from defending themselves?

In some cases, it will prevent people from defending themselves effectively. People that will break laws about attacking or killing other people will also break laws about having guns (criminals do not obey laws- that is why they are called criminals). The end result of laws on gun control is to affect people that obey laws, and do not affect people that break laws.
