Where is 1 position on 81 chev 350 distributor?

The firing order on this engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The distributor rotates clockwise, and the #1 cylinder is located driver's side front of engine. Remove the #1 spark plug and turn the engine until the piston is at TDC (Top Dead Center) on the compression stroke. Once you get the piston at TDC look inside the distributor. The rotor will be pointing to the # 1 plug connection. The next connection going around clockwise is # 8 and the next is # 4, etc.
