SACD is an abbreviation of Super Audio CD by Sony and Philips. DVD density 5+1 channel audio recording. Used mostly for audiophile Jazz and Classics recordings. Has two layers - one for SACD capable player to play one bit DSD recorded audio and other plain CD for any CD player to play PCM.

In sound quality close to DVD audio with multichannel Dolby Digital or DTS recordings. SACD provides more natural non-digital LP like record sound with impressive dynamic range.
