Can you carry on makeup on an airplane I've heard stories of women's makeup being thrown away but does powder makeup differ from liquid makeup is one allowed over the other?

When I flew last year the one big important thing about anything carried on the plane was the number of ounces and if it was in a plastic zip lock bag. Nothing could be over 3 ounces, had to be in the original package, and in the zip lock bag. I followed all the directions and not one item was taken from me.
