Do adders swim

Adders, specifically the common European adder (Vipera berus), are not known for swimming, but they are capable of moving through water if necessary. They primarily inhabit terrestrial environments, such as woodlands, heathlands, and grasslands. While they may cross streams or ponds, they do not actively seek out water for swimming. Instead, they prefer to stay on land where they can bask in the sun and hunt for prey.
