What is the best way to convert prints to digital images ideally without removing them from the albums?

You will need a good scanner to employ the best method, as you ask. I suppose leaving them in the album is not practical to say the least, especially if they are plastic pages. Photographing them is another way, but won't turn out as good, and is much more difficult to achieve with satisfactory results.
