What could happen to you if you abuse an animal?

If an animal is abused, it has dramatic affects on their life. At a young age, if an animal is abused, they learn nothing but fear and don't know how to trust, which is what turns into aggression. Think of dog fights, those dogs are abused as puppies and beaten, turned from loveable puppies into vicious fighting dogs who don't know right from wrong. But that's physical abuse. There is also the abuse of dehyrdation and starvation, where the animal is not fed or watered, sometimes leading to death. Also, exposure is a type of abuse, where an animal is left in the elements (rain, sun, snow) for a long period of time. If help doesn't come, these animals usually die.

Even if the animal does survive, they still end up having to go through a lot ot recover from the trauma they have endured.
