Did God change Saul's name to Paul?

While there are many instances in The Bible of God changing the name of someone e.g. Abram to Abraham, Jacob to Israel, no specific mention is made about the change in Paul's name. It would, however, be consistent with the earlier pattern of a name change when a person was specifically called to a special work.
