What do the garbage trucks do to all the garbage?

Once emptied into the hopper a blade comes down and compacts the garbage into the other garbage removing all air space and compressing it flat once truck is full which takes about 350 homes in my truck yes im a female trash girl it is emptied at the transfer station and it is compacted again into a big trailer and hauled to landfill where it is finally and i think the besst compacting is done by a 110,000 pound spiked compactor this thing drives over a pile of garbage and smashes it 2-3 feet into the ground before i drove one i had no idea what happened to my garbage its not pretty
