Can quinine abort baby

I believe so. When my mother first became pregnant with me in the early 1950's, she went to the drugstore and the druggist gave her quinine to help her start her period. Of course, it didn't work and perhaps it was not a large enough dosage. But given that the druggist had her use it, it is possible that it was once used to abort a pregnancy.
