To effectively crop an image layer in
Photoshop, select the layer you want to crop, then use the Crop Tool to draw a cropping boundary around the area you want to keep. Press Enter to apply the crop. You can also use the Marquee Tool to select the area you want to keep and then go to Image Crop to crop the image layer.
