What is wrong with Craftsman riding mower that won't idle?

The governor is probably stuck. If you are not sure where the governor is located, follow the wire link from the carburetor throttle to the governor lever. The lever has very short back/forth movement, however it should travel freely. Clean off all debris and gunk from the area where the governor lever goes into the engine to see if that will loosen up the governor.
