Kepler-22b orbits a star classified as a G-type main-sequence star, similar to our Sun. This star, known as Kepler-22, is located about 620 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. Kepler-22b itself is notable for being one of the first exoplanets discovered in the habitable zone of a star, where conditions might allow for liquid water to exist.
