What is the plot for The Pit and the Pendulum?

Like many of Poe's stories The pit and the Pendulum is not much more than a series of macabre situations. The plot would be:

* man is imprisoned in Spain during the inquisition.

* undergoes three means of torture which he avoids

* is rescued from the last by the army of Napoleon.
