The fimbria are finger-like projections located at the end of the fallopian tubes. Their primary role is to help capture the ovum (egg) released from the ovary during ovulation and guide it into the tube for potential fertilization. The fimbriae have ciliated surfaces that create currents in the surrounding fluid, facilitating the movement of the egg towards the uterus. Additionally, they play a role in the transport of sperm towards the egg.
