Is a myth a type of story?

A myth usually includes the dealing of Gods or some underlying nature or philosophy of the physical and spiritual world. A myth deals with great things, such as the formation of the world, the nature and destiny of the soul, why the stars travel in circles.

A legend deals with heroes (often the descendants of Gods but not usually supernatural to any excessive degree themselves). Usually the subject mater of legends are wars and other political and racial upheavals. Legends often have a basis in fact or history.

A tall tale lacks credibility, is usually seen as a 'great lie' attempting to copy myth and legend.
