Porifera, commonly known as sponges, are considered simple organisms in terms of their body structure and organization. They lack true tissues and organs, functioning primarily through a porous body that allows water to flow through, facilitating feeding, respiration, and waste removal. Despite their simplicity, sponges exhibit a variety of forms and can thrive in diverse marine and freshwater environments. Their basic body plan, however, distinguishes them from more complex multicellular organisms.
