Where is the hood release for a 2012 Jeep Liberty?

The hood release for a 2012 Jeep Liberty is located on the driver's side, near the left footwell. It is a lever that you pull to unlock the hood. After pulling the lever, you may need to lift the hood slightly and find the safety latch underneath to fully open it.
