How can you tell if chili has gone bad?

The most obvious may be smell, but beleive it or not, that isn't always apparent. You'll know it went bad if, when you open whatever container it is stored in, you see green and white, or black and white mold on the surface.

Also, if you have a chili that is red when it is first cooked, it will usually be greyish in appearance, or a sickly brown color if the mold isn't apparent.
