What happened to Greece during the Cold War?

After WW II Elections were held in Greece. The polls were highly rigged in favor of British backed EEDE party. This led to a civil war between communists party (DA) and EEDE. This forced USA to intervene and support nationalist forces. The civil war continued till 1949.
