Plantation shutters used on the inside of the Windows are practical to the extent that they can shut out light, or let it in a little or a lot, like blinds would do. But you can't expose the entire window without opening them out and back against the wall on either side of the window. Or by using bi-fold styles that fold but stick out forward. In both cases, when the shutter is opened, it takes up space you may not have. Some people use shutters on the bottom half of the window and not the top so they let the light in but give you privacy at eye level. You also have to have double hung sash style Windows. They are completely wrong with the crank out style of window. As beautiful as they are, they are not really practical. I would go with 2" wood blinds. They come in a lot of wood tones, and white is always
right. They look rich, not wimpy like mini blinds, but can go on any style of window.
