What do all amphibions have in common?

All amphibians share several key characteristics: they are cold-blooded vertebrates that typically undergo metamorphosis from a larval stage with gills to an adult form with lungs. Amphibians, which include frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts, generally require moisture for their skin to facilitate respiration and reproduction. Additionally, they lay eggs in water or damp environments, and most have a dual life cycle, spending part of their lives in water and part on land.
