When the vaccine is administered it is done sub-q or under the skin. This results in about a quarter sized bump that remains until the dogs body absorbs the vaccine. If swelling is more than this the dog can be given a benadryl in case of allergic reaction but a vet should be consulted so he knows that there was a problem.
