What is the cost for a canine endoscopy?

My 11 year old Beagle is having the procedure done as I write this. It was estimated at about $1200. Jake had become lethargic, slower, for the past 2 weeks was not eating or drinking water and has lost about 8 lbs. I took him into his vet (has been his vet for the past 7-8 years). He suggested an ultrasound (cost $400) which came back with "Cranial abdominal fat inflammation" located along the pancreas. The vet began treating it with gastric protectants and acid reducers as well as pain mgmt. We also discontinued med

therapy for his Cushings disease. As he had not improved, the DVM wanted to do the endoscopy. I never went "shopping" for a better price only because of the relationship with our current vet.
