Coffee can be grown in a myriad of countries around the world, and thrive in subtropical climates (between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn). If a country lies within this zone it will most likely be a coffee producing nation.
Africa is typically known as the land where coffee originates from; the legend of Kaldi the supposedly Ethiopian goat-herder is the most common myth of coffee discovery.
Most African coffee is produced in East Africa due to the soil (volcanic origin) and climate (sub-tropical and tropical).
Ethiopia and Kenya are two of the more renowned coffee countries, but other countries, such as Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Cameroon etc. can produce some great coffees as well.
Both Coffea arabic and Coffea canephora are commonly grown here.
