The first thing a car needs is the frame or chassis. Then the wheels, gas tank, seats, wiring, and other things along the undercarriage are put on. The transmission, engine, and body come next, as does the wiring, seatbelts, radio, etc. Then the outer body of the car is assembled and put on.
