How many fish fit in a 10 gallon tank?

About 8 inches of fish. The basic rule is 1" of fish needs 1 gallon of water. Your tank will hold 10 gallons of water filled to the brim. Tanks are usually filled to around 1" from the top so you loose around 2 gals.
