What is a disadvantage of microelectrode recording?

The microelectrode recordings are able to provide surgeons with images of specific brain structures. The advantage of using the microelectrode recording is that the structures are able to be identified in order to implant a pulse generator and affect disease symptoms that the patient has. The electrical stimulation has different effects per patient, however, the surgeons are able to learn more of the patients disease and conditions by watching these recordings.
