What is the origin of the name Alessi?

The surprising thing is that it doesnt have a single origin! There are many derivatives of 'Alessi', the most unusual being that it is an abbreviation of 'Alcon Esar Sibolo' meaning in latin 'Bearer of Goods Desireable'. This originates back to the roman times when the god of messenging, Alesar, was carried into Greek mythology and renamed Alessi.
