In what way does Romeo and Juliet provide a valuable lesson about destruction of hatred?

The Prince, Montague and Capulet at the end of the play attribute the tragedy to the hatred of the feud. The Prince says, "see what a scourge is laid upon your hate, that heaven finds means to kill your joys with love." Pretty ironic, and that about says it all.
