Why doesnt gatsby get a ticket for speeding?

Because of Gatsby's social status and wealth, he feels he is above the law. The police officers know how much money he has and he possibly donates some to the law enforcement each year. Basically, the scene is to illustrate how Gatsby's great wealth puts him "above the law"
