How does mint scent repl ants?

Ants do not have lungs, but instead they take in oxygen through tiny pores in their bodies. The reason why they are repelled by the mint scent is because Mint oil is extremely vaporous. Have you ever taken pure mint oil and sniffed it too close? now can you imagine breathing mint essence? Now imagine if you had that minty essence going through your veins and throughout your whole body. When an ant comes in to contact with diluted mint water (1 tsp. per 2 cups water - a wonderful ant remedy) they experience that cold sharp essence throughout their whole body and it stuns/freezes/slows down their body processes, and they will eventually die.
