How do you fix bootmgr is missing without CD rom?

That's an important file there, Windows Boot Manager...

This only work's on Vista+, but you should still read it all the way through

I hope there is a CD-R drive on your computer, because that is the only way you can really fix it...

Have you heard of Linux Ubuntu? Version 9.10 just came out, it's a Linux Operating System that can be run live from the CD-ROM...

Okay, first thing you should d is get the Windows Boot Manager file (bootmgr)...

Click on "Windows Vista Boot Manager"

download the super small and super important bootmgr file to your desktop and let it sit in peace for now...

Next, let's get back to Ubuntu...

Download the Linux Ubuntu 9.04 ISO file from

my website (same as the bootmgr download):

Click on "Linux Ubuntu" and download.

This is truly a large file-650MB, but its required if you want to fix your computer... Also, Ubuntu is an awesome, fast Linux Distro that can run Windows programs with an emulator called Wine, so it's damn useful...

Plus, if files are missing again, you won't have to donload it again.

Next, you have to use ImgBurn (google it) to burn the ISO file to the disk.

I recomend for you to download and install imgburn on your working computer and then, right click the Ubuntu ISO image, click "Open With", and choose "ImgBurn"

DO NOT SIMPLY COPY THE ISO TO THE DISK, THAT WON'T WORK

You have to use a actual image burner to burn the ISO file.

Once the disk is ready, burn the bootmgr file you just downloaded to a flash drive or another CD-ROM or removable device.

Now, reboot your computer with both the ubuntu disk and the flash drive with bootmgr on it.

When the first screen pops up, a menu saying PRESS F2 for boot menu. The key that they ask you to press differs depending on your computer brand, but your goal is to enter the boot menu.

Once in the BiOS boot menu, click on the CD drive witht he Ubuntu disk in it.

The Linux Ubuntu bootscreen should pop up shortly.

Click on the English language and select "Try ubuntu without any change to your computer".

Ubuntu should begin the boot process, which should take some time.

If you get a logon screen once boot completes, type in Ubuntu as the username without any passWord.

Sometimes, it automaticly loggs in so you don't eben see the logon screen.

Once you see the Ubuntu desktop, click on "Places" on the top taskbar. Then, select "Computer" and a Windows-like user interface should pop up. You should now see your hard disk(s) and the flash disk with the downloaded bootmgr file.

Copy the file bootmgr from the flash drive into all of your hard disk(s) and system drives.

Now the bootmgr should be on your hard disk.

Shutdown your computer when you are ready and remove the Ubuntu disk upon reboot.

See if Windows is able to boot now, it should be able to...

If not, then perhaps there was an error during file copy or you are running 64-bit version with 32-bit incompatability.

Perhaps you are running Windows 7, i have the bootmgr file for all Windows operating systems.
