Where to get a New York boat license?

You can get a New York boat license by completing a New York State–approved Boating Safety Course. Once you pass the course, you’ll receive a Boating Safety Certificate, which serves as your boat license.

You can take the course:

• Online through approved providers listed on the New York State Parks website, or
• In person with certified instructors across the state.

After completing the course, always carry your certificate while operating your vessel in New York waters.
