William B. Travis, James Bowie, Davy Crockett, and James Fannin were all prominent figures in the Texas Revolution against Mexico. They are best known for their roles in the Battle of the Alamo, where Travis and Bowie commanded the Texian defenders, while Davy Crockett joined them in the fight. Fannin led Texian forces at the Battle of Coleto, and although he was not at the Alamo, he is often associated with the same struggle for Texan independence. All four men are celebrated as heroes in Texas history.
