Can your eyelashes grow on your eye?

Eyelashes do not typically grow on the eye, except in rare circumstances, for the eyeballs do not contain hair follicles. In some cases, eyelashes can become ingrown. This occurs from a curled eyelash that penetrates the eyeball as it grows. This can cause severe eye irritation/infection and should be treated as soon as possible.
