Why can not you put tea in a glass?

Actually, you do put it in a glass if you are serving iced tea. It is hot tea that is served in cup so it won't shatter, and to help protect the person who will drink it. Ordinary glass can shatter if it gets too hot, and ceramics help hold heat better.
