I have a 2002 Volvo V40 wagon & checked the shop hours for comparison at Sears. Their on-line service was 2.5 hours. I've changed 940T & 740T wagons w. the B230FT engines, being rear-wheel drive. I wanted a comparison, as the V40 are transverse front-wheel drive. Sears labor rate in Oahu, HI is $100./Hour, or $250. labor. The cam belt sells for $35. to $50. Approx. total cost: $300. I'd also replace the timing belt tensioner. Depending on the year (1996-2004), the mfr recommended replacement is 80K to 96K or 8 years. I change mine at 60K to 80K, depending on wear. I'm not a professional mechanic; rather intermediate + skills, home taught, working on just the 1985-95 turbo wagons for 20+ years. I research on-line before tackling advanced projects.
