Why do my dash lights turn off when I turn my headlights on?

i had this problem also... look under the hood on driver side there is a fuse panel

near the battery.. check to see if fuse is not blown or corroded if so change the one that says lamps , this should take care of your dash lights.. let me know if this was helpful
