How do you care for a baby raccoon whose mother was killed?

Mother raccoons try to locate their dens where their kits will be safe from predators and where they can be kept warm and nurse. The mother may leave the young for short periods so she can forage for food so that she will continue to produce milk. Once the babies are old enough to follow the mother she will begin to teach the kits how to forage for food.
