What are the parts of a pediment?

A pediment is a classical architectural element typically found above doors or Windows. It consists of three main parts: the tympanum, which is the triangular area enclosed by the sloping sides; the cornice, which is the horizontal molded projection at the top; and the frieze, which is the flat band below the cornice that may feature decorative elements.
